Most States Recognize Four Main Abuse Categories
 

EMOTIONAL ABUSE:
   Verbal Insults, Threats, Excessive Name Calling
   Extreme Forms of Punishment
   Psychological Manipulation
   
PHYSICAL ABUSE:
   Hitting, Burning, Kicking, Beating, Torture, Suffocation, Homicide
   Child Slave Labor, Dangerous Activities
   Anything that Causes Physical Harm
  
NEGLECT ABUSE:
   Failure to Provide Education or Enroll in School
   Failure to Provide Food, Clothing, Shelter, Medical Care
   Failure to Provide Love, Affection, Psychological Care
   Failure to Protect a Child From Harm or Report a Child Missing
   
SEXUAL ABUSE: 
   Child Prostitution, Sex Slave Trade
   Physical Act Between Adult and a Child
 
36.7% of adult females and 14.4% of adult males in prison within the United States-- were abused as children.
